Project Overview

Eire Constructions, in joint venture with LC Water (LC EIRE), was awarded the Steuart McIntyre Dam Water Treatment Plant Upgrade, an important water infrastructure project designed to improve water quality and strengthen the reliability of the region’s water treatment network. With increasing demand for high-quality drinking water, the upgrade will modernise key infrastructure and improve the facility’s operational efficiency and performance, supporting the community’s water needs well into the future.

The project involves the design and construction of a new ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system and lime dosing facility, alongside a range of supporting infrastructure upgrades. Works also include the installation of new piping systems, construction of a new water treatment plant building, chemical storage facilities and a pumpstation, as well as the decommissioning of outdated equipment. Together, these works will enhance the treatment process while providing modern, fit-for-purpose infrastructure.

A key challenge of the project is its close proximity to the existing operational treatment plant, which must continue to provide essential services throughout construction. Currently in the preliminary design phase, LC EIRE is developing solutions that carefully integrate the new infrastructure with existing operations, while prioritising safety, constructability and continuity of service.

The project demonstrates Eire Constructions’ capability to deliver complex water infrastructure upgrades within live operational environments.
