Grahamstown Treatment Plant

Eire were awarded the Hunter Water Corporation Grahamstown Treatment Plan project aimed at enhancing the chemical delivery, storage, and dosing systems. Eire was selected to lead the design, construction, and commissioning of this essential upgrade, which involves critical chemicals like hydrated lime, polymer, aluminum sulfate, chlorine, and fluoride.

During the design phase, our team took an innovative approach to streamline the process. By merging the UV and de-aeration diversion chambers into a single structure, we significantly minimised the number of water-retaining structures and excavations required. This clever solution not only simplified the project but also reduced overall costs and timelines for Hunter Water.

Our commitment to efficiency didn’t stop there. We strategically cut down the main cutover shutdown time by employing specialized plant and equipment, eliminating the need for a temporary flanged pipe and additional plant shutdowns. This careful planning ensured a smoother transition for Hunter Water as we replaced the existing chlorination system.

Initially invited to create a concept design through Early Tenderer Involvement, Eire showcased our innovative ideas and competitive pricing. As a result, we were awarded the design and construction contract for the chlorinator upgrade, a vital addition to the original Grahamstown WTP Separable Portion 1 & 2 projects. We’re excited to collaborate with Hunter Water Corporation on this important endeavor, ensuring safer and more efficient water treatment for the community!
