Eire Constructions were engaged to design, supply, install, construct, test, commission and document the Black Hill Duplicate Trunk Main for Hunter Water.
The new 3km duplicate trunk main connects the existing rising main from John Renshaw Drive to Black Hill, alongside an existing 200mm pipeline. Open trench excavation method was used for the majority of the 3km, with the exception of four sections that were underbored. The pipeline was connected back into the existing Hunter Water mainline at two points.
Eire worked seamlessly with Hunter Water on this site which was registered with the Aboriginal Heritage Information Management System database. Works were conducted adjacent to major gas pipeline construction works, being undertaken concurrently with a Site Cooperative use plan being implemented and executed without incident.
Night works were engaged to complete connections to the existing active mainline to reduce impact to Hunter Water customers which was undertaken successfully.
Site restoration works included 40,000m2 of topsoil reinstatement and Hydromulch activities effectively returning the site to its pre-existing condition upon completion of trunk main installation works.
