Cessnock City Council is preparing for the expansion of Cessnock Airport. Servicing the Hunter Valley region, this regional airport is the gateway to the Hunter’s world-famous Wine Country. Due to increasing demand from population growth and increases in tourism, the airport upgrades will prepare the area for further expansion. The installation of the new water and sewer mains under the runaway will allow for the development of additional hangers and offices across the site.
The project team persevered through several extreme wet weather events during the months of March and April, causing poor ground conditions. Our team were able to take full advantage of every dry weather window to chase lost progress, which resulted in works being completed three weeks ahead of schedule.
Eire Constructions performed their work to a high standard, and effectively communicated with us throughout the course of the project. It is worth noting that our client provided us positive feedback on the quality & professionalism of the site team on multiple occasions, which is a reflection of how well the team worked. It is always a pleasure working with the team.

This project was carried out under a fully operational airport runway with high air traffic flow; this meant that all heavy machinery movements had to be carefully coordinated with the airport authority. Restrictions were put in place and safely monitored during the duration of the project to always ensure the highest level of safety.
We’re proud to be providing these resilient and sustainable infrastructure upgrades that will future-proof the airport for years to come.
