Client: Kempsey Shire Council
Location: South Kempsey, NSW
Project Value: $3.5m
Start Date: November 2021
Finish Date: July 2022
Key Components: 40KL commercial sewer pump station for the Puma Service Centre, 12 x residential simplex/duplex sewer pump stations, 6km of sewer inclusive of air valves, flush points, isolation valves and boundary kit connections.
The South Kempsey region is going through a period of growth, requiring new and updated services for the industrial areas and beyond. EIRE was brought on to deliver a new 40KL commercial sewer pump station located near the Puma Service Centre, as well as 12 new residential pump stations, and the installation of 6kms of new sewer mains.
Substantial rock has been encountered across the course of the project. A combination of excavation and horizontal directional drilling was incorporated into the construction methodology to minimise the impacts on existing paved areas and minimise the requirement for restoration works in these paved or busy areas.
The works were also carried out alongside the major thoroughfare into Kempsey requiring ongoing traffic control to coordinate works whilst maintaining traffic flow to the town.
Community engagement prior to commencement of the works and also during the course of construction was critical to us and our client to ensure the delivery of the infrastructure was seamless and low impact to current residents and businesses.
The construction of the new pressure sewer scheme will lead to new development and employment opportunities for the region.
