Eire Constructions worked in partnership with Port Macquarie Hastings Council on upgrades to the iconic Coastal Walk.
Wider paths, disability compliant grades, upgraded stairs and handrails and new furnishings are improvements to a number of the upgraded sections. Eire was contracted to complete:
-Charlie Uptin to Flagstaff Hill section
-Doctor’s Walk
-Nobbys Head Lookout Viewing Platform
The upgrades to the iconic walk are now complete, thanks to the joint funding from the NSW State Government and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
Mayor Peta Pinson said the upgrades add to the breathtaking beauty of one of our most precious local environments. “It’s been so pleasing to see the project progress over the past few years, and despite the challenges we’ve been experiencing as a community, this is a wonderful achievement… one definitely worth celebrating,” said Mayor Pinson.
The NSW Government contributed $765,000 to the project under its Restart NSW fund, specifically its Regional Environment and Tourism program. Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said “The work carried out by local tradies has ensured the funding allocated to this project has been kept in our community, particularly at a time when we need to keep local people working.
“For anyone in our community who hasn’t experienced this wonderful walk due to its previous condition, I would encourage them to discover the joys of our coastline and see first-hand the work that has been undertake on the renowned Coastal Walk,” Mrs Williams said.
